When is it: usually on the first or second Wednesday in July. The last week of the school term.
Distance: 5 miles approx (slightly short on most watches!)
Start time: 7:30pm race start (briefing at 7:25pm in the beer garden)
Climb: 950ft or 290M over the 5 mile course
Age limit: minimum age 16
Numbers: Limited to 150 runners
Timing: stopwatch timed (not chip timing)
Cost: £3 (Key principle of fell running – “Fell running is a non-commercial sport. Races should be run on a not-for-profit basis”)
Race HQ: Curzon Arms, 44 Maplewell Rd, Woodhouse Eaves, LE12 8QZ
Race start: Mill Road, Woodhouse Eaves
Drinks stations: there are no drink stations on the course but water is available at the finish.
Bag storage: there is no official bag storage, items left at race HQ are at the owners risk.
Parking: Space is limited, so please car share. Parking is available at the Curzon Arms, Village Hall on Main Street, or the Broombriggs Farm car park on Beacon Road. Please do not park on Mill Road as this will obstruct the race and avoid parking in residential streets so as not to inconvenience residents.
Prizes: Will be presented at 8:50pm at the Curzon Arms. There will be prizes for 1,2,3 male and female and 40+, 50+ and 60+ category winners male and female (don’t expect much though at £3 entry fee!)
BBQ: When possible the Curzon Arms puts on a BBQ after the race.
Safety: It is the responsibility of the runner to assess his/her own fitness to run. Also to ensure suitable clothing is worn for the weather conditions. This is a fell race with relatively steep climbs and descents. We recommend the use of off road shoes to reduce the risk of falls. Spikes are not suitable. Running with dogs is not permitted. The race cut off is 8:45pm the race will finish at this point and the course will be taken down. Runners may finish the course at their own risk after the cut off but will not get a time.
